The Annual Beckman-Brown Lecture on Interdisciplinary Science honors Dr. Arnold O. Beckman, the founder of the Institute, and Dr. Theodore “Ted” Brown, the founding director. The series is funded by a gift from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation.

Dr. Michael Mann, director of the Penn State Earth System Science Center, presents “Dire Predictions: Understanding Global Warming” as the 2018 Beckman-Brown Lecture on Interdisciplinary Science. The lecture begins at 3 p.m. Monday, October 15, in the Beckman Institute Auditorium, followed by a book signing and reception.

Mann is an award-winning climate scientist and author of “Dire Predictions: Understanding Global Warming” and, more recently, a book describing his experiences at the center of the debate over climate change, “The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars.”
