Meet Dominika Szal, a senior pursuing her degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering with a minor in Spanish. Additionally, Szal is one of the newest members of the 2023-24 Zero Waste iCAP team.
Szal works as a Waste Management Intern for Facilities & Services (F&S), which is what initially brought her into contact with this team. While working at F&S, she learned how much planning and coordination goes into establishing recycling programs at the university level. Szal became inspired upon realizing the power that the general public has in helping achieve sustainability goals.
Her favorite aspect about working with the iCAP teams is the opportunity to discuss new initiatives with like-minded individuals and work to advance all of the different ideas that the group comes up with.
Through her position as a team member, Szal aspires to create recommendations that actively address the iCAP’s zero waste goals and direct us in the right direction regarding our environmental impact as an institution.
In her free time, Szal likes to read and hike in nature preserves and state parks with friends.
