Meet Haley Tholen

Haley Tholen is a junior in the Grainger College of Engineering studying Engineering Mechanics with a concentration in Functional Materials.

Tholen chose to minor in iSEE’s Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Fellows Program because she feels that it’s important for engineers to learn how to make processes more environmentally friendly.

She’s excited to be able to view engineering problems with a sustainable lens and apply the knowledge she’s gained from the SEE FP accordingly.

So far, her favorite class in the program has been Materials and Sustainable Development, a course she took while studying abroad in the Netherlands at Delft University.

Tholen says she would recommend the SEE FP to students who are interested in gaining a holistic view of sustainability.
