Meet Meghana Pothukuchi: Recognizing the Impact of Engineering

Meet Meghana Pothukuchi, a sophomore majoring in Computer Engineering with a minor in the Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Fellows Program. She is a current member of iSEE’s Energy SWATeam.

Pothukuchi had always been looking for ways to get involved with sustainability on campus and was particularly interested in helping advance campus sustainability efforts. Since she is in the iSEE minor program, her advisor recommended getting involved within the SWATeams to help pursue her interest.

As a computer engineering student, she recognizes the “impact that engineering can have in energy generation and distribution. Research in power and energy systems emphasizes all aspects of electrical energy, innovation in energy generation and distribution, renewable resources, and efficient devices and buildings.” The future of energy is crucial as we turn to sustainable practices, and this is what sparked her interest to get involved with the team.

Pothukuchi is most excited to collaborate with other like-minded individuals to help achieve the Illinois Climate Action Plan (iCAP) goals for the year. With her teammates, she hopes to help develop creative and impactful recommendations to help support these energy efforts.

When not busy with schoolwork or her responsibilities within the team, Pothukuchi loves to sing. She has been singing for 14 years and is involved with the Women’s Glee Club on campus.
