Meet Asli Topuzlu: Enhancing Climate Adaptation

Meet Asli Topuzlu, a junior completing her Bachelor of Science in Earth, Society, and Environmental Sustainability. Topuzlu is a member of the Resilience SWATeam and was able to get involved simply by looking for sustainability volunteering opportunities on the iSEE website.

When she was doing her preliminary research, she knew that there wasn’t a specific iCAP team she was looking to join. Topuzlu was exploring different areas to make the campus more sustainable and was open to any kind of experience. When she was first introduced to the Resilience SWATeam and everything that this group works on, she knew it was the team she wanted to join.

With this position, she hopes to further develop her knowledge on how to help the community enhance its climate adaptation planning. Topuzlu’s goal is to give her team as much student insight as possible to make the projects and proposals more effective for the campus community and local areas.

In her free time, Topuzlu can probably be found outdoors — she loves to hike and explore different natural settings. She tries to learn as much as possible about sustainability and conservation by watching environmental documentaries. She also loves to listen to country music and is always open to new recommendations!
