Join us as we screen the award-winning documentary Sustainable.
Sustainable is a film about the land, the people who work it and what must be done to sustain it for future generations. It is a vital investigation of the economic and environmental instability of America’s food system, from the agricultural issues we face — soil loss, water depletion, climate change, pesticide use — to the community leaders who are determined to fix it. The film focuses on Marty Travis, a seventh-generation farmer from Fairbury, Illinois who watched his land and community fall victim to the pressures of big agribusiness. Determined to create a proud legacy for his son, Marty transforms his profitless wasteland and pioneers the sustainable food movement in Chicago.
Hang around after the film as Marty will be on hand to discuss his experiences and Carol Hays, the Executive Director of Prairie Rivers Network, will also join us to discuss how her local organization advocates for sustainable practices as well. FREE entry. Donations accepted. Concessions will be available for purchase. For more info: (217) 586-2612 or pcain@ccfpd.org.
Paid for in part by those at Prairie Rivers Network.
