Event Details

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has over 1,000 recycling bins for paper, plastics #1&2, and aluminum cans, as well as drop-off locations for newspaper and cardboard.

Come and take a tour of our Waste Transfer Station to see how these recyclables are collected, sorted, baled, and sold to various companies to reduce costs on campus. Come check us out! Your time will not be waste-d.

Getting There: The Waste Transfer Station is located at 10 St. Mary’s Road in Champaign.

Bus: Take the MTD Yellow/Yellow Hopper to the E-14 parking lot west of State Farm Center. From the bus stop walk west to Oak St. then one block south to St. Mary’s. Turn right/west. The facility entrance is the first driveway one block west on your right.

Bike: Bike parking is available on the east side of the site.

Car: Please carpool if possible as parking is limited at the facility. Please park facing the east fence as far from the entrance as possible to allow trucks to enter and exit freely.
