Who We Are

The Office of Sustainability at Illinois is charged with providing leadership to campus units to enhance communication and coordination across campus and with external constituents in implementing the campus' strategic plan for sustainability.

To achieve this task in relation to sustainability, the office will:

  • Develop and implement a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Coordinate efforts to enhance infrastructure and policy to support sustainability.
  • Incorporate service learning opportunities for students.
  • Encourage innovative research collaboration.
  • Foster partnerships with our local communities and other external groups.
  • Provide forums for meaningful dialogue about challenges and opportunities.

The Office of Sustainability will work with colleges and campus units to develop and promote opportunities for faculty and students to engage in efforts that address the critical environmental, societal and economic issues of sustainability now and into the future.
